Swiss delegation explores Telangana’s innovation ecosystem, secures business orders
A high-level Swiss delegation led by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Helene Budliger Artieda visited Hyderabad ahead of the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, exploring investment opportunities in the state's innovation ecosystem and securing business orders for two startups.
The delegation visited Skyroot Aerospace, T-Hub and T-Works to understand Telangana's capabilities in aerospace, technology and innovation. At T-Hub, discussions focused on co-building programmes for Swiss companies and student immersion programmes.
The visit also resulted in business orders for two startups. Curapod secured an order for 10 units, while RenoteAI received an initial order, according to a statement.
The delegation has been formally invited to the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, with the state's investment promotion and facilitation organisation, Invest Telangana, set to anchor subsequent engagements.
In the evening, the delegation was hosted for dinner at the Taj Falaknuma Palace by Telangana ministers D. Sridhar Babu, N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao, along with leading CEOs from Hyderabad's technology and global capability centre (GCC) ecosystem.
Speaking at the dinner, Budliger Artieda said the delegation had chosen Hyderabad to engage with businesses and investors and had been impressed by the city.
"We see this very traditional Hyderabad in this beautiful setting, nestled with a modern and innovative ecosystem that is truly conducive for investment," she said.
Sridhar Babu highlighted Telangana's strengths in talent and innovation, pitching the state as a destination for Swiss investments.
"We are landlocked, but never locked out. Our coastline is talent. Our harbour is innovation. Swiss precision and Telangana scale can build the world's next breakthroughs," he said.
Strengthening intellectual property (IP) protection emerged as a key issue in discussions on attracting investments from Swiss pharmaceutical companies.
Switzerland has ranked No. 1 in the Global Innovation Index for 16 consecutive years, according to the statement. Strong IP protection is a key consideration for Swiss pharmaceutical majors, particularly in research and development (R&D).
Telangana plans to engage with the Centre on strengthening process and product patent frameworks to attract R&D investments from companies such as Roche and Novartis.
The discussions come as Telangana seeks to leverage Hyderabad's established technology and life sciences ecosystem to attract global investments and deepen international business partnerships.
