TAFE Students in Dandenong Get Cutting

TAFE students in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs are benefiting from cutting-edge manufacturing equipment and facilities closer to home, thanks to upgrades at Chisholm Institute's Dandenong campus.

Funded through a $1.95 million investment by the Albanese Labor Government's TAFE Technology Fund and delivered by the Allan Labor Government, the upgraded facilities for TAFE engineering students enhance hands-on learning opportunities.

This ensures that students have the right skills to succeed in their future careers.

The upgrades mean students can now undertake specialist training in operating advanced computer numerically controlled (CNC) and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) technology.

These skills are needed in the advanced manufacturing and fabrication industries.

Up to 800 Victorian students a year will benefit from learning in-demand technical skills at the new training facilities, while strengthening capability across the vocational education and training sector and supporting the growth of Victoria's skilled workforce.

The Albanese Government's $50 million TAFE Technology Fund supports TAFEs nationwide to upgrade and expand infrastructure, including laboratories, workshops and IT systems.

A total of $8.61 million has been allocated to projects in Victoria.

Chisholm Institute's Dandenong campus is the sixth TAFE Technology Fund project in Victoria that has been completed.
