Temperatures expected to reach 36 C in GTA Tuesday: Environment Canada
Humidex values reaching 38 to 45 C from Monday until Wednesday evening or Thursday morning
Environment Canada has issued a yellow heat warning for the Greater Toronto Area this week.
According to the weather agency, temperatures will be between 30 and 36 C, with humidex values reaching 38 to 45 C from Monday until Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
Tuesday will see the peak of the heat event, Environment Canada warns.
It recommends watching for early signs of heat exhaustion, which can include a headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue.
Anyone who is showing signs of heat stroke should call 911, Environment Canada added. Symptoms of heat stroke include red and hot skin, nausea, dizziness, confusion and change in consciousness.
Environment Canada is also urging the public to turn on air conditioning, drink water often, close their blinds and limit exposure to the sun. Residents should wear lightweight, light-coloured and loose-fitting clothing, as well as a hat.
The weather agency warns hot and humid temperatures can also lead to deteriorating air quality.
