What's on at the Market?
“God help me, ah! Lady Maria, thief of my heart!” If The Lady of Mallorca has also stolen your heart, then know that this June she’ll be stepping onto the stage at Time Out Market. The song title fits the performer herself like a glove: besides being a Mallorcan singer, Maria Hein almost seems to be portraying herself through this traditional island song (it’s hard not to notice the resemblance to the girl described in the single as having “long golden hair reaching down to her heels”). A breakthrough hit and one of the defining moments of her career, opening the door to a fusion of electronic music and folk.
An Aperol event curated by Primavera Sound, taking place on Saturday the 13th and starting at 8 pm with a pre-show DJ session to warm up the crowd, led by the brilliant Nahoomie with a mix of house, soul and 90s garage. Tickets cost €10 and include an Aperol drink so you’ll have everything you need for the show.
To paraphrase the song… “Who is this fair maiden?” Maria Hein is a Mallorcan singer-songwriter with a deep love for traditional Mallorcan folk, which runs through her entire catalogue and blends with other genres. She has explored everything from pop to electronic music and has also collaborated with Catalan artists such as Julieta and Rita Payés.
In 2021 she released her debut album, Continent i contingut, created together with Ferran Palau, and has since collected several awards, including the Bartomeu Rosselló-Pòrcel Award 2024 and multiple Enderrock Awards, one chosen by public vote. Who could resist her beautiful voice, rich in melismatic ornamentation?
For this Market performance she’ll bring the piano as her weapon of choice, with much of the setlist drawn from her album Katana, which ventures into J-pop and K-pop — alongside reggaeton and other urban rhythms — and shows strong inspiration from Japanese culture and films such as Kill Bill.
The DJ kicks off the night from 8 to 9 pm with a true dance ritual, where house music takes centre stage, guided by her passion for club culture and soul. Her sets feel like a relay race of groovy sounds, break accents and syncopated rhythms. Ready to dance your heels off?
The concert is an initiative by Aperol Spritz in collaboration with Primavera Sound, which brings a constellation of concerts to iconic venues across the city: more intimate events carrying the same festival identity and featuring well-known local artists. All of it hosted by Aperol Spritz at sunset: terrace, drink in hand, golden hour and live music.
Don’t miss the chance to see these two outstanding artists in a setting far from the crowds at Time Out Market. Tickets can be booked here.
