Winnipeg child hit by train, hospitalized
Police say incident happened near Winnipeg Avenue West around 8:45 p.m. on Friday
A child was taken to hospital after they were injured by a train in Winnipeg's Weston neighbourhood on Friday night.
Officers responded to a report that a child had been hurt by a moving train on the tracks near Winnipeg Avenue West around 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Winnipeg police said in a Saturday news release.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responders took the child to hospital in unstable condition.
Their condition was later upgraded to stable.
Police are warning members of the public to be extremely cautious around active rail lines. People should never climb on rail equipment or approach moving trains, police said.
