Woodstock woman sexually assaulted, London man charged
A London man is facing charges after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and assaulted in Woodstock on Wednesday.
Police say they were called to the area of King Street and Wellington Street South following reports of a violent incident.
When they arrived, police found an injured woman. Bystanders intervened to help the woman, and the suspect was allegedly assaulted by one of the people helping the woman.
The suspect and woman knew each other, police say.
A 35-year-old London man has been charged with sexual assault and aggravated assault.
A 29-year-old Woodstock man has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The investigation is being led by Woodstock's special victims unit, which investigates crimes involving vulnerable persons and victims of serious interpersonal crimes, including sexual assaults, human trafficking, intimate partner and domestic violence, and elder abuse.
