World Championships: Chen/Toh Withdraw; Wong/Lim Qualify
Mixed doubles defending champions Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei have withdrawn from the BWF World Championships 2026 due to Toh’s ongoing recovery from a major knee injury.
Toh had suffered an Anterior Crucial Ligament (ACL) injury in her left knee during their quarterfinals match at the KFF Singapore Open 2026 in May. Following surgery, the world No.7 is undergoing rehabilitation.
Malaysia will still have two pairs among the mixed doubles qualifiers, as the next eligible pair in the reserves list were Wong Tien Ci/Lim Chiew Sien, who will join senior compatriots Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Lai Jemie in the draw.
Earlier withdrawals in mixed doubles included Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil (Indonesia) and Koceila Mammeri/Tanina Violette Mammeri (Algeria), enabling the qualification of Chen Xing/Zhang Chi (China) and Marwan Faza/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata (Indonesia).
Chen/Toh had made history in Paris last year, becoming the first Malaysian mixed doubles pair to win gold.
