World Grand Prix Darts: Luke Humphries to face Gerywn Price in Sunday's final in Leicester, live on Sky Sports

Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries will look for their second World Grand Prix titles when they meet in Sunday's final of the double-start event in Leicester.

Price, the 2020 champion, beat Nathan Aspinall 5-2 in Saturday's first semi-final before 2023 winner Luke Humphries defeated James Wade 5-3 to reach his fourth straight final and set up a repeat of the showpiece game three years ago - when he saw off Price 5-2.

A major drought will end either way at the Mattioli Arena, with Humphries going over a year since his last premier title - the 2025 Premier League - and Price's previous elite silverware coming way back in 2022 at the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam.

The final, in which the winner will earn £150,000 and runner-up £80,000, will be first to six sets, with Humphries hoping to fare better than he did in 2024 and 2025, when he lost 6-4 to Mike De Decker and 6-1 to Luke Littler respectively.

Price romped into a 3-0 lead over Aspinall, peeling off two 13-darters and then a 15-darter to sweep the opener before he broke The Asp in the deciding leg of set two.

The third set went on throw until the fourth leg, when Aspinall missed six darts to hold, including two at double one, and Price subsequently pinned D10 to move 3-0 up.

Things seemed bleak for Aspinall when Price broke in 14 darts at the start of the fourth set, only for The Asp to win back-to-back legs with well-thrown darts at D16 around failed ones before pulling back a set with a stunning 132 finish featuring two bullseyes.

The 2022 runner-up won the fifth set against the throw but Price did likewise in the sixth to move one away from victory and then broke Aspinall twice in a row in the seventh set, after being broken himself, to qualify for a fourth Grand Prix final following 2020, 2021 and 2023.

Speaking afterwards, Price said he had been annoyed by Aspinall complaining about the rowdy crowd, telling Sky Sports: "I was upset with him a little bit. I said, 'they're on your side bud, I'm up against it'.

"As good as the crowd is for me, they were all for him. He's performing a little bit on stage. I'm good friends with Nathan, but sometimes you've got to let your darts go. It did [affect my game]."

Later, Humphries ended Wade's hopes of a third World Grand Prix crown, and first since 2010.

'Cool Hand' won the sixth set on throw after the first five had been taken 3-1 by the player throwing second.

Wade, who produced the checkout of the game with a 141 in the second set but largely struggled to hit the mandatory leg-opening double, took the next stanza, but Humphries was not to be denied, firing in back-to-back 137s to break 'The Machine' in the eighth set around two holds of throw.

Humphries, who had beaten Dave Chisnall, Jermaine Wattimena and Niels Zonneveld prior to knocking out Wade, told Sky Sports: "I did say I was going to play a lot better and I did - I felt a lot more relaxed.

"That was the real me there today and I'm really proud of myself for performing like that. It's been a long time since I've felt that control and not like I was going to flounder a little bit.

"To make four Grand Prix finals on the trot is super special. It's history and I'm proud of that but unless I pick that trophy up, unfortunately that history doesn't mean anything.

"I've got to do it again [on Sunday] because there's so many major finals I've let slip. Gezzy [Price] is playing well but if I play like that again, it's going to be a cracking game."
