Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on American goods now in effect
Canada’s retaliatory measures on American goods are now in effect.
The measures include tariffs on $28 billion worth of goods coming into Canada from the United States.
The levies kicked in after midnight and are in response to tariffs launched by U.S. President Donald Trump when trade talks broke down last month.
McMaster University economist Colin Mang said the new Canadian tarifffs are mostly on one-time-purchase consumables from the U.S. and could lead to progress in the trade fight.
