‘Flavours from India’ showcases India’s culinary heritage at Katara Cultural Village
The Embassy of India in Qatar, in collaboration with the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), hosted a special gastronomy event titled ‘Flavours from India’ at Katara Cultural Village on Sunday.The event brought together ambassadors, diplomats, Qatari dignitaries, members of the Indian community and friends of India for an elegant evening celebrating India’s rich culinary traditions and cultural heritage.
The event was graced by General Manager of Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) Professor Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, whose continued support has played a significant role in strengthening cultural exchanges and enhancing people-to-people ties between India and Qatar.
The gathering witnessed the presence of more than 25 ambassadors from various countries, along with senior diplomats and distinguished Qatari dignitaries, reflecting the wide international interest in India’s cultural and culinary legacy.
Guests were treated to a specially curated menu showcasing the diversity of Indian cuisine. The spread included Punjabi samosas, Medu Vada, Rasmalai, refreshing buttermilk, and premium Alphonso mangoes.Each delicacy highlighted the regional richness, traditional flavours, and culinary depth of India, earning widespread appreciation from attendees who enjoyed the authentic gastronomic experience.
In his remarks on the occasion, Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE Vipul emphasised the deep-rooted historical and cultural connections between India and Qatar.He noted that cuisine has always served as a powerful bridge connecting people, traditions, and cultures across nations. He highlighted the centuries-old exchange of culinary influences between India and the Gulf region, which continues to be reflected in the shared appreciation for spices, flavours, and diverse food traditions.
The ambassador also underscored the essence of Indian hospitality embodied in the timeless principle of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (Guest is God), describing it as a core value that defines Indian culture and is beautifully expressed through its cuisine. The event concluded on a highly positive note, receiving an enthusiastic response from all attendees.
“Flavours from India” not only celebrated India’s culinary excellence but also served as a meaningful platform to strengthen cultural bonds, foster mutual understanding, and deepen friendship between India and Qatar through the universal language of food.
