The event was held alongside the 49th annual Anand Bazaar, a flagship cultural and food festival organised by the India Association of North Texas, at the Comerica Centre in Frisco on Saturday.

"Consul General addressed the gathering and conveyed his greetings on the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day, highlighting the important role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening India-US ties," the Indian consulate in Houston posted on X.

Manjunath had earlier led Independence Day celebrations at the Indian Consulate in Houston.

The event in North Texas was attended by Frisco Mayor Mark Hill, city council members, local elected representatives, veterans and leaders of regional Indian-American organisations.

The celebrations featured a ceremonial lamp-lighting, classical musical performances and a special segment marking the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. Tricolour decorations, traditional dances, an indoor parade honouring veterans and a grand laser show added to the festive atmosphere.

Community representatives said the strong turnout in Frisco reflected the growing presence and solidarity of the Indian-American community in the region.
