Agrifood startups backed by venture capital firm Omnivore have reached 20.81 million smallholder farmers and 61,711 rural MSMEs across India, according to the firm’s 2026 Impact Reports for the Omnivore Partners India Fund (OPIF, Vintage 2018) and the Omnivore Agrifood and Climate Sustainability Fund (OACSF, Vintage 2023).

In a statement, Omnivore said the reports use global impact measurement and benchmarking methodologies to track outcomes across the portfolio, capturing the growing reach of businesses working across India’s agrifood and rural economy, from farmer services and rural finance to consumer brands and deeptech.

Omnivore’s portfolio includes companies such as DeHaat, Arya.ag, Sid’s Farm, Varaha, Farmley, and Pixxel.

Across the two funds, portfolio companies have generated $5.64 billion in combined economic value for smallholder farmers directly and indirectly. The reports record 11.55 million hectares under sustainable agriculture, with metrics also tracking GHG emissions avoided, quantity of healthy & nutritious food sold to the consumers, loans enabled for MSMEs, insurance coverage enabled for rural households among others, the company said.

“The agrifood sector is creating businesses that can deliver both commercial value and meaningful outcomes for farmers, rural businesses and the environment. As this ecosystem grows, it is important that we have the frameworks and evidence to understand what that impact looks like,” said Sanskriti Kapoor, Vice President, ESG & Impact at Omnivore.

The portfolio’s impact extends to financial inclusion, with $2.18 billion in insurance coverage provided to rural households and $63.62 million in loans to rural MSMEs across the respective fund portfolios.

Omnivore has invested in India’s agriculture and food economy since 2011, with its portfolio expanding over the years from technology-led agricultural businesses into areas including climate, deeptech, rural finance, food and consumer markets.
