Taipei Open: Fresh Starts in Doubles
YONEX Taipei Open 2026 will provide an early glimpse of several intriguing new partnerships as established names embark on fresh chapters across the doubles disciplines.
In men’s doubles, former mixed doubles world No.7 Hiroki Midorikawa joins forces with 19-year-old Yuto Nakashizu, while Indonesia’s Muhammad Rian Ardianto begins a partnership with Daniel Edgar Marvino. Ardianto, a former world No.1 alongside Fajar Alfian, will be looking to build momentum after featuring in a few tournaments with Rahmat Hidayat. Singapore’s mixed doubles specialist Terry Hee also ventures into the discipline, teaming up with Wesley Koh in the qualifying rounds.
The women’s doubles draw sees Maya Taguchi return to the discipline just days after reaching the China Open mixed doubles quarterfinals with Yuta Watanabe. The Japanese youngster will partner Misaki Kurashima while also competing alongside Watanabe.
Men’s and women’s doubles are the only categories this year to feature the defending champions – Chiu Hsiang Chieh/Wang Chi-Lin and Hsieh Pei Shan/Hung En Tzu.
Meanwhile, mixed doubles features another headline pairing as Tokyo 2020 Olympic women’s doubles gold medallist Apriyani Rahayu begins her mixed doubles journey with Dejan Ferdinansyah. It will also be Ferdinansyah’s comeback tournament since his first-round exit at the Indonesia Open last month with Bernadine Anindya Wardana.
Women’s singles: Malvika Bansod Women’s doubles: Kai Osawa/Mai Tanabe, Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti Mixed doubles: Liew Xun/Ho Lo Ee
Women’s singles: Ishika Jaiswal Women’s doubles: Laudya Chelsea Griselda/Nozomi Shimizu, Hsieh Mi Yen/Yu Chien Hui Mixed doubles: Tsai Fu Cheng/Sung Yu Hsuan
YONEX Taipei Open 2026 begins tomorrow, with the first qualification match scheduled for 9am Kuala Lumpur time (UTC +8).
