"The artificial intelligence (AI) era is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for investors. Long-term investments in U.S. big tech and domestic strategic manufacturing are key to success."
Bae Jae-kyu, CEO of Korea Investment Trust Management, emphasized this at an investment seminar to commemorate the new listing of exchange-traded funds (ETF) at Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul on the 10th, citing "OIALO (Once-In-A-Lifetime Opportunity)" by CEO Jensen Hwang of Anvidia.
CEO Bae reiterated the welfare effect of the rate of return, citing "direction" and "time" as the secret to successful investment. Assuming an average annual return of 10%, the current 10 million won will increase to about 2.2 billion won in 55 years, he warned. "If we waste time by turning our eyes to short-term investment or leverage, the yield gap will widen dozens of times within a few years with those who have invested in U.S. big tech and other countries." Pointing to technology as a promising field, he said, "We should pay attention to strategic growth industries such as humanoid (automobile), shipbuilding, defense, and nuclear power plants, including big tech in the US stock market and semiconductors in the domestic stock market."
Lee Sun-yeop, CEO of AFW Partners, who has been diagnosing the K-manufacturing industry, assessed that the price attractiveness of domestic related companies that have recently been adjusted has increased. In particular, it analyzed that long-term benefits are expected from reflective profits from the U.S. policy to check China.
Lee in particular pointed to energy as the most promising field. "The 'nuclear renaissance' has arrived with former President Trump's easing of regulations on nuclear power plants," he said. "The world-recognized domestic power infrastructure and nuclear technology will serve as strengths." In addition, the shipbuilding industry is expected to see results from the end of this year due to the U.S. Navy reconstruction project, and the recent expansion of the field of AI, such as the development of ship engine data centers, is also a long-term boon. The defense industry is also expected to grow quickly by demonstrating its actual technology amid global political instability, but securing diplomatic trust in Europe and Canada remains a challenge.
In addition, Na Yong-soo, head of the ETF management division of Korea Investment Trust Management, stressed the attractiveness of the domestic market in the face of tax evasion, saying, "As domestic strategic industries have become national infrastructure, profit volatility has decreased compared to the past."
Meanwhile, Korea Investment Trust Management will list the "ACE Semiconductor Plus Strategy Industry" ETF on the 11th, which contains this investment philosophy. The product will focus on investing in 10 outstanding companies (2 stocks per industry) in Korea's five core industries, including semiconductors, shipbuilding, defense, nuclear power, and humanoids.
