Visakha Utsav starts tommorrow with events, competions, concerts

District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad announced on Friday that extensive arrangements have been put into place for the ‘Visakha Utsav–2026’, scheduled to commence from January 24, to ensure active participation of the public.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Mr. Harendhira Prasad said that the main stage has been set up near the Kali Mata Temple, where programmes will be conducted daily from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. District In-charge Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Tourism Minister, Kandula Durgesh and other will attend the inaugural.

On the opening day, a live concert by popular singer Sunitha, a drone show, fireworks and a carnival will be held, he said. To encourage local artists, special cultural programmes are organised at Gokul Park from 5 p.m. to 7.30 pm. A market with 70 stalls at RK Beach and 15 stalls at Gokul Park is also organised as part of the festival, he added.

Food stalls, adventure sports, helicopter rides and paramotoring activities are being organised. From January 27 to 29, Coastal Football League, Coastal Volleyball League and Coastal Kabaddi League competitions will be conducted too. He said that Rangoli competitions will be held at Andhra University College of Engineering, while culinary competitions will be conducted under the supervision of Sun International School. The last date for registration for Rangoli and culinary competitions is January 27, and the finals will be held on January 30.

Mr. Harendhira Prasad further shared that a treasure hunt competion with 25 teams from different colleges will be held on January 29. Competitions such as Mr Vizag, Miss Vizag, Mrs Vizag etc, will be conducted during the Visakha Utsav. Auditions for these competitions will be held at the VMRDA Children’s Arena. He informed that a flower show will be organised at VMRDA City Central Park on January 29, 30 and 31.
