Ministry of SMEs and Startups Reviews Achievements and Key Initiatives with 15 Public and Affiliated Organizations

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on June 1 that it held a policy council meeting with the heads of 15 public and affiliated organizations.

This policy council meeting, presided over by Minister Hansung-sook of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, was organized to review the achievements of public and affiliated organizations in the first half of the year since the launch of the new administration, and to examine whether tangible results are being delivered to the public and businesses.

The institutions presented their first-half achievements by policy area and outlined their key priorities for the second half of the year. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups reviewed the direction of each institution’s initiatives and looked into necessary improvements for each task to ensure the core initiatives for the second half are carried out smoothly.

Minister Hansung-sook stressed, “Public and affiliated organizations are the key executors that ensure policies for SMEs, startups and ventures, and small business owners are actually implemented on the ground,” and urged, “I ask the heads of each organization to personally oversee your core initiatives so that policy achievements translate into real change in the field.”

During the council, participants also discussed the outcomes and future plans regarding the issues raised during last year’s National Assembly audit. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups pledged to regularly check the implementation status so that the points raised during the audit lead to institutional reforms and policy improvements, and requested swift action on shortcomings to ensure the same issues are not repeated in this year’s audit.

Additionally, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups expanded its ongoing “National Normalization Project” to include 11 affiliated public institutions, and proactively identified normalization tasks for each organization. This is aimed at addressing chronic issues persistently raised in the field—such as repeated civil complaints, unreasonable procedures, and policy blind spots—by improving systems and processes. Each institution shared their normalization tasks and discussed future improvements and implementation schedules.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will continue to monitor the progress of each organization’s key second-half priorities and normalization tasks, and plans to strengthen follow-up management to ensure that policies lead to tangible outcomes in the field.

Minister Hansung-sook emphasized, “Please re-examine work that has been carried out as a matter of routine from the perspectives of the public and businesses, and proactively identify even minor inconveniences,” adding, “The National Normalization Project must not be a one-off measure but should serve as an opportunity to fundamentally resolve on-site inconveniences.”
