Ottawa police seeking suspect in east

The Ottawa Police Service is requesting public assistance in identifying a suspect it says was involved in a bank robbery in the 500 block of Montreal Road on Aug. 4.

In a news release dated Aug. 6, police said the suspect entered the bank located near the intersection with St-Laurent Boulevard in the city's east end at about 11:20 a.m., approached a teller and demanded cash.

Staff complied with the man's demand and he fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The news release described the suspect as a White man approximately 40 years of age with a tanned complexion, grey hair, a light-coloured beard and a pointed nose. At the time of the incident, he wore black sunglasses, a black baseball cap with a red brim featuring the Ottawa Redblacks logo, a light green-blue T-shirt. a jacket and black jeans.

Anyone with information about the suspect's identity or details related to the bank robbery was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or online at crimestoppers.ca.
