Trilith entertainment zone, ‘next
Following years of design tweaks and construction, the full scope of a public-accessible Trilith project described as a new metro Atlanta epicenter for arts, culture, and entertainment is just weeks from its world premiere.
Officials with Trilith LIVE, the entertainment and special events component of the massive New Urbanism project a half-hour south of Atlanta, today announced their grand opening season will officially kick off Jan. 15.
On the dockets is “a vibrant slate of concerts, family shows, corporate meetings, and community events,” per Trilith officials.
Key features of Trilith LIVE include a luxury nine-screen cinema, designed to provide a “next-generation moviegoing experience to the region,” per today’s announcement. It’s officially been christened the Georgia Theatre Company cinema. (The cinema facet has been in the works since way back when Trilith was called Pinewood Forrest.)
Passion City Church will also operate on the Trilith LIVE campus.
But the marquee attraction—and a likely boon for Trilith's retail and hospitality sections—will be a 2,800-seat theater (hundreds of seats larger than initially planned) designed to host concerts, conventions, banquets, and performing arts shows. Features in that venue include huge LED walls, a cutting-edge sound system, and a full broadcast suite, per officials.

A 51,000-square-foot communal plaza for outdoor gatherings, festivals, and other activations is also included. Nearby stands a 730-space parking deck, which Trilith officials have called the first of its kind in Fayette County.
As for the cinema, it’s promising a “moviegoing experience unlike any other” by way of a GTX Premium Large Format auditorium designed for immersiveness, with “revolutionary” and “crystal-clear” LED Samsung Onyx screens, per Trilith reps. The theater will also feature a full-service bar.
“We’re not just opening a new theater; we’re creating an unparalleled entertainment destination,” said Bo Chambliss, Georgia Theatre Company president, in a statement. “This cinema is a testament to our commitment to delivering the magic of the movies.”
Trilith LIVE’s first phase debuted earlier this year with two live sound stages (25,000 square feet each), greenrooms, production offices, and other facilities.
Since then, phase one has tallied more than 200 live audience game show episodes filmed for national television, Trilith officials relayed in July. It’s also hosted rehearsals for several national (unspecified) acts prepping for concert tours.
Following construction, the full 530,000-square-foot Trilith LIVE complex is expected to create hundreds of jobs for the south metro.
“We've built a space with state-of-the-art technology and incredible flexibility to attract a diverse lineup of live entertainment and special events,” said Matt McClain, Trilith LIVE executive director and general manager, in today’s announcement. “We’re incredibly excited to open our doors and provide unforgettable experiences for this community and beyond.”
Mere farmland until its 2016 groundbreaking, Trilith today is a 235-acre, master-planned residential and mixed-use community about 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta. New residential sections include rustic, relatively affordable townhomes and another with sprawling estates priced north of $3 million.
Last year the project marked a milestone by debuting its 193-key boutique hotel component, Trilith Guesthouse, with two food-and-beverage offerings.
